Celebrities Wearing Argyle

Want to look classy? Just wear argyle. It’s an easy how-to in fashion. For whatever reason the diamonds of the argyle pattern have symbolized preppy fashion trend that has lasted decades. J. Crew never seems to be without a little argyle in their collections. The only time to maybe be weary of the pattern is in high school, where you may be called a “tool” for wearing something that looks like it’s straight from a pretentious Ralph Lauren catalog. But what do high schoolers know anyway?

The pattern originates from Scotland. It was seen in the tartan of the Clan Cambell from a western region of Scotland called Argyll (surprise, surprise). The pattern was first used on kilts and socks worn by Scottish Highlanders. Now we see the print wildly at golf tournaments and the knee-highs of school girls. This is in thanks to Pringle of Scotland, a luxury knitwear manufacturer, who popularized argyle in the 1920′s.

So in honor of National Argyle Day, we would like to bring you images of celebrities in argyle!  Because they bring the trend to the streets, movie sets, and they go all out for those charity golf tournaments. You may not be able to pull off the look, but these rich and famous sure can. Definitely Josh Duhamel does… Okay, maybe not so much Mickey Rourke… Madonna’s look is interesting too… just take a look for yourself!
